Abuse Reporting: Agencies that can provide information and/or assistance if abuse is suspected or observed.

Adult Day Program Centers: Provides a continuing, organized program that may consist of rehabilitative, therapeutic and supportive health and social services and activities to individuals who are functionally impaired. Services are provided away from the clients home, usually for more that 2 hours but less than 24 hours per day. Some adult day programs may specialize in specific problems such as Alzheimer\'s disease. Services may be on a regular schedule or provide respite for the caregiver.

Advocacy: A person, organization or agency that works for or assists on behalf of another.

Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia: Any program or assistance involving Alzheimer\'s Disease or Dementia.

Assisted Living Facilities: Special combination of housing, supportive services, personalized assistance and healthcare designed to respond to the individual needs of those who need help with activities of daily living. Supportive services are available, 24 hours a day, to meet scheduled and unscheduled needs in a way that promotes maximum dignity and independence for each resident and involves the resident\'s family, neighbors and friends. Licensed by the state.

Case/Care Management: Individuals or organizations that specialize in the assessment and needs of the geriatric client. Assists in planning, arranging, referring and coordinating services.

Community Clinics: Consumer-based, community-controlled, nonprofit outpatient facilities that provide basic health care including physical examinations, immunizations, family planning, nutrition assistance and diagnosis and treatment of common ailments for low income people, people who are homeless or uninsured/underinsured or other medically underserved populations that are geographically, economically and culturally challenged. Services are generally provided on an ability-to-pay basis. In the U.S., community clinics are part of the network of Federally Qualified Health Centers, and many are known as free clinics.

Community Services: Organizations or individuals that provide a variety of services to enhance independent community living.

Community Wellness Program/Activities: Exercise, recreational or social programs that are designed for adults/seniors.

Dental Referrals/Services: Dental Services/Assistance

Disaster/Emergency Issues: Agencies or businesses that provide immediate response services, referrals, resources, or financial assistance.

Education: Provides information through classes, seminars or other means of communication that enhance the caregiver\'s skills and knowledge.

Employment: Programs that provide employment opportunities for people who are searching for jobs; assist people who are able and willing to work by helping them prepare for, find, secure and retain suitable employment; provide work site evaluation and/or modification support; and/or seek to develop employment opportunities in various fields for people who need a position.

Financial Issues: Agencies or organizations that can refer or help with obtaining financial assistance for low income seniors.

General Counseling Services: Agencies, individuals that specialize in senior and caregiver issues, both general training and specific to a disease process.

Guardianship Services: Guardianship - Conservatorship Programs

Hearing Impairments/Services: Information, services or financial assistance for seniors with hearing difficulties.

Home Health Agencies: These agencies primarily provide medical care and coordinate services for consumers needing nursing and other health care services in the person\'s place of residence.

Home Repair Services: Agencies or businesses that provide assistance to seniors needing home repairs or agencies offering financial or referral assistance.

Home Safety Evaluations/Accommodation/Modifications: Provides home safety evaluations and/or modifications to the dwelling that make it safer and more accessible to physically and/or cognitively disabled or frail elderly.

Hospice Care: Organizations that provide a combination of at-home and/or hospital care for the terminally ill that combine medical and social services.

Hospitals: Acute or specialty hospitals that specialize in geriatric programs. See Mental Health Issues.

Housing Information and Referral: Programs that maintain information about various housing arrangements.

In Home Care Services/Homemaker/Personal Care: These services are provided through private businesses, state and county agencies or home health agencies and may include assistance with bathing, meal preparation, shopping, assistance with activities of daily living and light housekeeping.

Information and Referral: Businesses or agencies that specialize and are knowledgeable in specific or general services for caregivers and carereceivers.

Insurance Issues: This service provides education and information about a variety of insurance programs that impact seniors.

Legal Services: Provides legal advice and representation by an attorney who has special training and knowledge of elder law (and, to the extent feasible, counseling or other appropriate assistance by a paralegal or law student under the supervision of an attorney).

Mediation/Dispute Resolution: Programs that provide a neutral third person who is acceptable to all parties to a dispute who facilitates discussion between the parties and aids them in making their own settlement decisions.

Medical Care: Clinics or physicians that specialize in routine health care provided by internists, pediatricians, family medicine specialists, gynecologists, obstetricians, nurse practitioners, midwives, physicians\'s assistants or other health care providers who serve as the first point of contact with the health care system. Services focus on the prevention and early detection of health problems through regular physical examinations, blood pressure checks, mammograms and other similar procedures as well as therapeutic services for people who do not require specialty care.

Medical Equipment/Supplies/Assistive Technology: Tools that assist caregivers and their carereceivers.

Mental Health Services: Hospitals, organizations, or counselors that specialize in mental health care for seniors or can provide information or make appropriate referrals. See Hospitals.

Nursing Facilities/Nursing Homes: Facilities that provide physician-ordered medical and supervised nursing care on a 24-hour basis.

Nutrition Related Public Assistance Programs/Meal Services: Services that provide nutritional meals in group settings (such as a senior center), home delivered meals, assistance with obtaining food, and nutritional counseling both general and specific to aging or disease.

Prescription/Medication Services: Agencies, organizations and businesses that offer counseling, information and/or financial assistance to seniors regarding prescriptions and medications.

Rehabilitation Issues/Rehabilitation/Therapy Services: Agencies, businesses and organizations that specialize in working with seniors and may have special programs. Usually includes physical, occupational and/or speech therapy. Most are Medicare certified.

Respite Care: Provides temporary relief to persons providing long term care for clients in their homes, day centers or overnight stays in assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.

Safety Issues/Assistance: Services that specifically address safety and or protection of the senior.

Senior Centers: Organizations that provide a variety of services and activities for seniors. May also provide congregate or home bound meals.

Senior Companion Programs: Organizations or individuals that provide assistance. Can include conversation, light housekeeping and meal preparation, etc.

Substance Abuse Services: Programs and services that specialize in working with seniors who have alcohol and/or drug problems.

Support Groups: Groups that provide opportunities to meet others who share similar experiences, knowledge and strengths.

Transportation: Services that provide for basic transportation needs of the community including the local and long-distance conveyance of people and goods.

Veterans Benefits Assistance: Services that are specific to veterans and their families.

Visual Impairments/Vision Information/Services: Any information or services that would be helpful to seniors who are blind or visually impaired.
